I am officially back online. The move went rather well. We had a tonne of help which was awesome. We later forced food and drink down their throats as a thank you for all their hard work. The apartment still looks like a mess. Things half unpacked, and thrown everywhere. The important things are unpacked, however. These being the coffee maker, dishes, my desk, my computer and most of my books. Sure some of Gary’s stuff is unpacked, but I’m waiting for him to decide where to put all of his doodads (and yes that is the official word for his possessions).
There are only two things that suck about this huge apartment. First, there is no outlet in the bathroom. Honestly people, no outlet in the bathroom?? What were they thinking? Second, Gary’s couch is too big and refuses to leave the second bedroom. This is causing him much stress since this room was meant to be “his” room. It means he can’t set up his computer, his drafting table, his toys etc. We decided to give the couch to my sister so it should be out by the end of the month and we will begin saving for a new one. So we are currently using my futon as the only available seating in the living room. Gary’s ass is sore because of this. Poor thing!
Overall, however, things are going quite well. We are going to be doing some unpacking today, being the first day we’ve had off together to really tackled the apartment. Later we have a BBQ with some folks from my work, and then tomorrow we hit the stores for all the little things we thought we had but either can’t find or never owned.
And just for the record I am a very lucky girl. As I set up the wireless network this morning (and I still can’t get Gary’s Mac to connect – stupid OS 9) Gary just made me a lovely sandwich and brought it in to my computer area while I typed out this entry.
It’s wonderful to be loved.
