Memories

Sit quietly and watch
The wind dance with the snow
At times like this I wonder
Will the woman that sleeps inside me
Watch the snow hit the panes
And make rivers down the glass
Happy with the woman she has become
And all that she has achieved
Or will she be broken
Seeing faces in the night
With only memories to shelter her
Of the girl she used to be
Will she regret the hands
That have held this tender heart
Both loving and tearing her apart
Maybe she will think
That the dance of wind and snow
And the quietness of watching
Can turn black memories to white
Let them sparkle in the moonlight
Like an ice covered forest
And instead of bleak sorrow
She will laugh with delight
