Morning

Eyelashes flutter against the pillow
Sunlight filtered through the sheer fabric
The velvet blanket discarded in the corner
Leaving only cotton sheets to caress my skin
The smell of coffee and freshly baked bread
Causing my lips to curve in a smile of delight
Stretching, my hands high above my head
My toes pointing and every muscle is relaxed
I curl back up into my sheets and bury my head
Velvet now a welcome weight in the morning chill
Another minute of this bliss, and another more
Only then will I begin the day
