Pretending with colour

Pretending with colour

Things have been rough lately and in an attempt to cheer myself up I have been trying to wear more colour. I have to admit I only lasted a couple of days before I reverted back to my black and white wardrobe. Colour can be hard sometimes but I did like this particular outfit. Sure it’s matchy matchy but I am OK with that.

S0, I debated sharing anything here but I decided that I wanted a place to talk about what has been happening in my life lately. I admit I feel a bit awkward but I think I am finally ready to start being a bit more open. You see, when I say things have been rough lately I mean things have been really rough.

My Aunt passed away on Friday from cancer and we had her funeral yesterday. She was the last remaining sibling on my Dad’s side and my 99 year old grandmother is not doing well.  I have also been taking quite a bit of time off to help care for my Mom in Hamilton. She has been diagnosed with Stage 4 Breast Cancer that has spread to the bones, lymph nodes and the brain. Things are not looking positive so I am trying to balance working and spending as much time with my mother as possible while she is in the hospital.

It has been  hard and overwhelming with all the things that need to be dealt with but I am lucky that my sisters are amazing as well as my Aunts. Sometimes though, it is easy to forget to just spend time together in the process of paying bills and making phone calls. So, tomorrow I am proposing a  fun project to my Mom. If she says yes I’ll be sure to share it because I think some may get a kick from it. Until then, I hope to be sharing more outfit posts. I actually find it easier to deal with the world when I dress up a bit. It’s been far too easy to hide from the world in huge jackets and oversized sweaters this winter but now it is team to stop hiding and start ticking off those to do boxes.

I was so glad to see rubynite outfit posts on my dash again, but very sorry to hear what a terribly hard time you are going through. I’m a stranger to you, but I send you my good wishes – I hope you have lots of love around you. Thanks for your blog, I’ve always loved your writing and your beautifully edgy style.

Oh Emma this completely made my day! Thank you so much for your comment. I have to admit I am always surprised when someone I don’t know posts or reads my blog but it makes me smile to know that you enjoy the posts. Also thank you for the kinds words. Things have been difficult but I am very lucky to have a great support system of family, friends and work.
