Last weekend between all of the Festival of Fear craziness Gary and I had the pleasure of attending the wedding of our friends Sue and Jeff. Sue is part of a very talented and amazing group of people that Gary met in college that have kept a close friendship more than a decade later. I will fully admit that one of the reasons I fell so madly in love with Gary was the fact that he had such a kind group of friends. Your friends say a lot about you and when I met everyone I felt completely at home. I failed to get a shot of all four of them together but here is Sue and her three honourary male bridemaids (minus a Vincent who could not make the wedding)
The wedding was in Waterloo in a beautiful gazebo on a sunny Saturday afternoon with their sweet daughter as their flower girl. They had what they called a “pierogie” wedding (and yes the pierogies were fantastic!) at the Polish Legion in Kitchener. The couple did all of the decorations themselves, right down to the gorgeous “cake topper” (pictured above) that Sue hand painted to match their outfits. I am sure it is pretty obvious from the pictures above but just for the record…Sue looked gorgeous!! She always looks classy and I loved her vintage inspired wedding outfit. The big bow, cage veil, halter dress and amazing necklace with the gold accents fits Sue’s personality perfectly. With the exception of the veil it would not surprise me to see her wearing any of these pieces again.

I also went with a bit of a vintage inspired outfit for the wedding. I had planned on buying a new dress, but since I am on a sabbatical right now I have been trying to restrain myself from shopping…for the most part. I then remembered though that I had this City Chic dress that I had ordered months ago during one of their sales but never wore. When I first got it it was a bit small which is why I was considering something else but it appears that I lost some weight in the last few months so the dress fit quite nicely. You can not really tell in the pictures but the silver damask patter on the dress sparkles. The pattern is quite nice but I think it made the dress a bit stiff for my taste. Even with the stiffness, I still felt lovely and received quite a few compliments.
My favourite part of the dress…it has pockets! My love for pocket dresses is well documented. They are Perfect for stashing your phone when you bring a purse that is just a bit too small. Or to hide that was of tissues you may or may not have used during the ceremony. Of course I had to include a photo of Gary and I together just so you can see just how dapper we looked. Gary wore his wedding vest with a t-shirt and fedora. The wedding was pretty casual and it was a smart move especially in the heat.
Yes I know that this has been a pretty heavy picture post. But I want to include just one more photo of the happy bride and groom, Sue and Jeff. Thank you again for inviting us to be a part of your amazing day. We wish you a lifetime of happiness, laughter and love.
