My take on the “secretary” look

My take on the “secretary” look

While I listen to the “tap tap” of water leaking from the roof in our spare bedroom I thought I would take my mind off of all the damage and post an outfit I wore a while ago. I have a couple of outfits sitting in my “to post” folder but I think this is one of my favourites.

My secretary look

I am a sucker for the black, red and grey colour palette, and when I found this scarf at a local Value Village for $1.00 I had to have it. I picked up the sweater at Torrid a few months earlier but I have only worn it a few times and thought this was a perfect opportunity to wear it to work.  Once I decided on how I wanted to wear the scarf as a cute bow, the rest of the outfit just came together.

My secretary look

The dress is a sleeveless, black, surplice dress from eShakti.  It has certainly become my go to piece in my wardrobe and am trying not to wear it too often now in an effort to try and make it last longer.  The belt I picked up from a fatshonista post and the red boots are from Fluevog.

My secretary look

Once the outfit came together I really felt it had that “secretary” vibe especially with the bow and the cardigan.  The fall and winter seasons have really seen my love of scarves blossom. I wear them in all sorts of configurations now and I am no longer afraid of draping or brooches or bows.  I find that they usually bring that extra little something to an outfit that instantly makes it more polished and classy.

I LOVE the color combination — it looks so great with your hair & coloring. I have a similar eshakti dress, and it’s one of my go-to pieces as well!
