Chip Fan Failure

While I was working away on my computer yesterda it suddenly shut down for no reason. It was quite odd since it has been working really well since I built my baby. I turned it back on and it gives me an error saying that I have a Chip Fan Failure.

Great.

After some surfing it appears that the motherboard I bought (Asus A8N-E) had a defective fan. I’ve only had the motherboard for 2 1/2 months and the idea of buying a new one or having to pay for the fan started to get me all rilled up. Ready for a fight, I gave Asus a call today and was redirected to their RMA department today.

Turns out I didn’t have to fight. The woman asked me if I needed a new fan, I said yes, she asked me for my address. That was it. They are going to be shipping out a new fan to me at no cost which is great. But it will probably take 7-10 business days for me to get it.

That means no computer at home for me for two weeks.

I think my mad PlayStation 2 skills are going to get a workout.
